The two big earthquakes in Kahramanmaraş that we experienced on February 6, added more sadness to our sadness and unbearable pain to our pain, just after 2020 Pandemic depression, then the uncontrollable inflation as a result of energy crisis, because of the Ukraine-Russia War.
In the disaster of the century, we have unfortunately seen once again that there are bad people as well as good people.
Those who spread rumors that make people afraid, either by phones in their hands, using social media or in WhatsApp groups.
Those who try to loot the houses turned into rubbles.
Those who take advantage of the earthquake and sell a bottle of water for 200 TL.
Those who spread rumors that there will be another earthquake disaster soon, as if they are professors of geotechnical or geology.
All those, shouldn’t be accepted as members of humanity.
Apart from that, they tell lies that they got opinions from the District Governor and frighten people not to enter their homes in Adana and its region, because of a new earthquake, as if they are experts.
Messages are circulating in WhatsApp groups such as "I do not enter, you do not enter".
And many more rumors…
Do not trust such voice messages unless they come from official institutions.
“We have been chasing thieves since the earthquake,” says a friend of ours who owns a business near Gazipaşa Boulevard.
Our security forces are constantly on patrol. But it may not be enough. Because there are very few people to report them.
Therefore, lock your house well, or continue living in your house if it is not damaged.
We experienced two major earthquakes but we did not leave our house, because there was no any damage to our house.
The whispers of a new severe earthquake is over, and now rumors have started that the inmates in Kahramanmaraş who were in prison for rape and murder have escaped and are trying to enter houses in Adana and Mersin as survivors of the earthquake.
As if that wasn't enough, some idiots started circulating the photos and their names of the prisoners on WhatsApp groups.
Let's not hurt each other anymore! The day is the unification day…
The news of rescued survivors under the rubble, poured water into our hearts.
While AFAD teams, soldiers, police forces, miners, rescue teams of municipalities, firefighters, rescue teams from abroad, volunteers, rescue dogs and many other good people are trying to save our children and people alive under the rubble, we are deeply saddened by theft and looting.
